Abstract
In this essay, the methodological problems imposed by the arts and their pedagogies is analyzed on two fronts: how to train artists for the different arts and how to train creative and innovative citizens using arts as didactic resources. We start from the principle that diversity in the arts as differentiated objects of study makes difficult for us to standardize the research method to be used both to understand the arts themselves and the particular pedagogy to train their artists, as well as to understand research on the pedagogical utility of each arts on the formation of creative and innovative citizens. It is a reflection product of our experience offering the Chair of Research Methodology in the Career of Pedagogy of the Arts at UNAE-Ecuador. The fundamental conclusion is that the diversity of the objects of study defined by the diversity of the arts and the complexity of their creative practices impose to generate research methods for each art and at the same time for each approach: the pedagogy for each art or the use of each art as a didactic tool for the pedagogy of citizen training in the knowledge society.
