Abstract
This research addresses the importance of stimulating oral communication in a student with Down syndrome, because it is essential to strengthen their communicative ability, according to authors such as Cano et al. (2013) establish that the linguistic action in infants with Down syndrome preserves a model of action with similarity to other people and greater development of intellectual functions the delay is gradually generated. Therefore, a general objective was proposed, which is to propose a methodological guide aimed at the teacher to stimulate oral communication. From the different theoretical contributions, identify the main characteristics of linguistic and communicative development in intellectual disability and how it affects adaptive skills. The research has a qualitative hermeneutic-interpretative paradigm. The application of techniques and instruments in the case study allowed a triangulation of the data and to characterize the difficulties of language development in oral communication. Through the analysis of data, the needs and their respective strengths were investigated on the barriers encountered to solve the difficulties represented by the little development of the language of a student with disabilities who are in their schooling stage. The proposal presents a guide of exercises and activities with the use of educational images to stimulate oral communication with a computer resource called Araword that allows the simultaneous translation of words into pictograms for the elaboration of words and phrases related to domestic habits. In conclusion, the intellectual disability present in this syndrome prevents social relationships due to its lack of communication and does not allow oral expression. To develop language in oral communication it is necessary to work from the acquisition of words to increase vocabulary to internalize the concept of it.
