Abstract
This research is based on the line of "Didactics of curricular subjects and pedagogical practice", which seeks to address a problem present in the Manuela Garaicoa de Calderón Educational Unit of the city of Cuenca-Ecuador, which arises in the eighth year of Basic General Education (EGB - for its acronym in Spanish), parallel A. The objective is focused on creating a guide of artistic didactic strategies, for the teaching-learning of Language and Literature, which is developed in the socio-critical paradigm, within the action research method with a qualitative approach. For information gathering, field diaries, observation guides, surveys, interviews and review of documents were used, such as: Language and Literature of the ninth year of EGB, Ecuadorian Curriculum of Higher EGB, Guide for the Teaching of Cultural Education and Artistic (ECA - for its acronym in Spanish) and the Cultural and Artistic Education Curriculum (ECA). The majority of satisfactory results were obtained from the partial application of the guide of artistic didactic strategies for the teaching-learning of Language and Literature, the students were motivated to learn, they were active entities in the learning process, and they acquired new experiences. Finally, it is concluded that learning based on artistic didactic strategy, within the study context, enhances the process of acquiring knowledge through meaningful learning, where students were precisely the center of that process
