Abstract
The Didactic Unit "The influence of realistic stories in the formation of an active reader" analyzes the work of the Ecuadorian poet José de la Cuadra, around him, his biography and link with the Montubio people. The planning begins with the lyrical exhibition of the amorfino, to continue with the analysis of social Realism, as a literary genre. With these two elements the author and story "La caracola" is presented; from whose reading, the motivation to create a character and a story that highlights the working man, noble of heart that are the characteristics of the montubio that De la Cuadra describes passionately. The Unit is implemented in sixth-year students .E.B. of the school "María Luisa Viteri Aguilar", who experience an approach to literature from a constructivist approach to be an active part of their learning propose activities, enrich their knowledge and develop a taste for reading.
