Abstract
This curricular integration work (ICT) focuses on the study of basic addition and subtraction operations within the thematic block "Algebra and functions". The research was carried out in an urban educational institution in Cuenca, province of Azuay, with a sample of 33 students, who showed significant errors and difficulties in these mathematical operations. Therefore, we have set ourselves the objective of enhancing the teaching-learning processes of addition and subtraction operations, with the aim of solving the identified problem. The theoretical framework is based on a review of national and international research, in addition to our main theoretical axes: Mathematics didactics, the teacher's role, curricular area, innovative methodological strategies and the playful environment. A qualitative approach and a socio-critical paradigm were adopted, using the action-research method. Various techniques were used to collect information, such as participant observation, semi-structured interviews, pedagogical diagnostic tests and documentary analysis. The tools included field diaries, interview scripts, questionnaires and guides for document analysis. Based on the data obtained, a playful environment was implemented through activities that motivate and facilitate the completion of addition and subtraction operations. The results showed a notable increase in the motivation and academic performance of the students, improving their understanding of mathematical concepts and their ability to solve problems effectively.
