Abstract
Reading comprehension is an indispensable competence for the success of the reading and, consequently, for learning in all the areas of the knowledge of the Basic General Education, reason why it is fundamental to strengthen it from the first years of schooling. In this sense, the present investigation plans to achieve its potentiation during the teaching learning process of the subject Language and Literature, specifically in the students of parallel “A” at the "Manuel Muñoz Lamb” Basic Education School. This investigation followed a process under the socio- critical paradigm, the qualitative approach and an Action Research design, in which information about the problem was obtained by means of participant observation, interviews, classroom notes and diverse pedagogic tests. The results of the diagnosis showed that only the 54%, of the students reached the expected learning outcomes. The resulting proposal consisted on a didactic strategy that contemplates activities that incorporate readings stories of oral transmission, considering their value according to previous research studies and the conducted theoretical systematization. The results of their application demonstrated that 95% of the students was able to achieve the expected learning outcomes. The main result lies on the progressive advance of the students in the development of their reading competences, mainly in the development of the reading comprehension. This allows the authors to conclude the achievement of the overall research aim.
