Abstract
The present work deals with how to develop active learning from the subject of Cultural and Artistic Education in first-year high school students of the "Eugenio Espejo" Educational Unit, using the cultural and artistic heritage of the spaces of the Pumapungo Museum as a pedagogical resource, applying a transdisciplinary perspective. Starting from the theoretical foundation on the different central themes such as: cultural and artistic heritage, active learning and project-based learning, this qualitative research was carried out, in order to analyze the experience of these students when making guided visits to the Pumapungo Museum, in the city of Cuenca (Azuay province, Ecuador), to develop different projects. After the application of a diagnostic test, it was evidenced that these students had a low level of approach to cultural and artistic heritage (visiting museums or local and national cultural spaces), therefore, their knowledge about the knowledge that these places keep was quite ambiguous. The application of the Project-Based Learning method (PBL), allowed the active participation of the students through different roles that they adopted in the development of their work, which allowed the acquisition of diverse knowledge from the integration of various subjects. and the realization of artistic-investigative products, with which they were able to establish an ecosystem of knowledge that interacted and related to each other. This also allowed them to enhance their research, writing and creation skills. After the visits made to the Pumapungo Museum, it was possible to improve the museum experience of the students and their understanding of heritage, culture and art.
