Abstract
The research evaluated the use of real and radical functions in solving mathematical problems, and their contribution to the development of the learning process of students of the first year of BGT of the educational unit "August 10" of the city of Vinces. The proposed objectives were: (i) identify the shortcomings in the teaching-learning process of mathematics; (ii) establish methods of solving real and radical functions through mathematical problems; (iii) examine the mathematical knowledge acquired by students with respect to the solution of real and radical functions. The methodology was based on the elaboration of twelve lesson plans, which included: object of the class, execution time, methodological strategies, resources, indicators of achievement, techniques and evaluation instruments. The results show that the shortcomings detected in the students have their origin in deficiencies of mathematical reasoning inherited from previous levels of study.
