Abstract
Reading is important in education since it lays the foundations for all schooling, hence, the need to form the reading habit as a central axis within the educational process and the social life of students. The purpose of this research is to promote the reading habit through a recreational reading program using digital teaching resources to motivate and stimulate reading practice. The methodology design uses a qualitative approach and a socio-critical paradigm. Participant observation and survey techniques were used to collect data. The following tools were used: students' field diary, questionnaires, a pre-test and a post-test and observation logs that were applied in two moments of the investigation. The implemented program generated improvements in the reading habit of students of “Quinto B” class, since in after the analysis of the results obtained in the different instruments applied, especially in the pre-test and post-test, an improvement in the reading habit was observed.
