Abstract
This research focuses on the promotion of emotional education in the second year of basic general education in an educational unit in the Guapán parish, Azogues, Ecuador. The knowledge problem arises from the identification of a lack of attention to emotional competencies in educational activities focused on curricular content. The objective is to promote emotional education through competencies that the curriculum proposes as a functional area. The methodology used has a qualitative approach and a socio-critical paradigm, based on the action research method. The results highlight the importance of educating children in emotional competencies, highlighting the lack of knowledge about emotional education at home and the lack of materials in the school context. Additionally, the crucial role of teachers in implementing EE is emphasized, creating a supportive environment to explore emotions, practice coping strategies, and foster positive communication.
