Abstract
This study presents a proposal of the creation and illustration of tales to promote reading and writing skills among 10 to 11-year-old students from the Unidad Educativa Comunitaria Intercultural Bilingüe Shiña, Nabón´s canton. Considering the importance of the aforementioned skills in the educational process these tales aimed to be used as educational resources that increase the interest of the students of the middle and superior sublevels of basic education. In this case, seventh level of Bilingual Intercultural Education. The use of tales as pedagogical instruments considers children and their relationship with the environment, the orality of the Ecuadorian people and some Latin American writings of this genre. This allows children to create their own stories. For this reason, this proposal entitled “Workshop of tales: hands to the work” was created. It was based on the experiences and contributions of writers as Giovanni Rodari, Cornelia Funke, among other Ecuadorian and Latin American writers. The tales present alternative contexts such as: the use of maps, the illustrations, stories to create tales with children and, ultimately, strengthen the reading and writing skills.
