Abstract
The research aimed to determine the virtual andragogical competences of university teaching staff during the Covid-19 pandemic. The present study is justified by its orientation towards new research contributions in higher education, focusing on a relevant aspect of the educational problem and responding to the new needs of the virtual learning process by seeking a change in the lecturer’s approach to learning orientation. A mixed-approach research was conducted, with a nested or simultaneous integrated design of the dominant qualitative model. The population consisted of 30 teachers and 439 students. Both groups belonged to the National University of Chimborazo (UNACH) and the University of the Armed Forces (ESPE) of Ecuador. The sample selection was participatory and non-probabilistic. Two Likert-type questionnaires of 27 questions each were applied. It was established that teachers should have a digital and critical-constructive didactic model. The educational model must be favourable in the principles that govern the andragogical fact, establishing a process of orientation - learning in higher education.
