Abstract
The present research addressed the importance of improvement in personal autonomy in students with infantile cerebral palsy, was based on the following research question: How to develop the personal autonomy of a student with Infantile Cerebral Palsy of Social Functional Level 1 of the Azuay Cerebral Palsy Institute? The research considered an interpretative paradigm based on a qualitative educational research approach. The methodology used considered the single case study, where the unit of analysis was a student with infantile cerebral palsy, while as a category of analysis personal autonomy was considered. Different techniques were used to help in the collection of information such as interview, participant observation, documentary analysis. From there, research instruments such as field diaries, observation sheets, semi-structured interviews and information analysis matrices were derived. Among the results, the need to enhance the skills for autonomous life of the case addressed stands out. Subsequently, with the information collected, a project- based intervention program was designed to work on independence in the person at home and in the school institution.
