To achieve this, first theoretical references that cover the concepts of gross motor skills in initial education and traditional Ecuadorian games were systematized. According to this, López (2018) mentions that gross motor skills are large movements that involve various parts of the body and with which we can perform different activities. On the other hand, Navarro (2015) argues that traditional games are practices that have been created from the imagination and implementation of materials that have made it possible to give value to the society where it develops. Afterwards, an analysis was carried out on the development of gross motor skills in the group of 4 to 5 years. Then, activities based on traditional games were designed to develop various gross motor skills. The application of the same was executed and finally, the implementation of the proposal was evaluated. The methodology used was action research and a socio-critical paradigm, the qualitative approach was used with data collection instruments such as field diaries, interviews and checklists. This work had the participation of 18 children and the teacher. When applying the games it was possible to appreciate that the traditional games did help to stimulate gross motor skills. The children improved their balance, global dynamic coordination and visual motor skills, muscle strength and tone, and postural control thanks to the activities that were implemented.
