Abstract
One of the main challenges that education faces these days is the presence of lecture and rote-oriented classes where the teacher is the only protagonist in the teaching-learning process, which causes students’ lack of interest, participation, and demotivation. This research paper proposes using an Active Team-Based Learning (TBL) Methodology in teaching Biology, particularly topics related to the cell. The class where the study took place was at Cesar Dávila” school, section B of the first year of senior high school. The methodology is based on an interpretative paradigm investigation with a mixed approach; several instruments were used to collect and analyze data, such as the field diary, student survey, and interview with the teacher. The study population was one (1) teacher and thirty-one (students. The intervention proposal consists of the design, implementation, and evaluation. The results highlighted that the use of the active methodology had a positive impact on the results obtained in the teaching-learning process, in the same way that the teacher affirmed that the use of methodological strategies is fundamental since it improves aspects such as motivation, participation, and interest of the students.
