Abstract
This research seeks to address the difficulties faced by Venezuelan students when migrating and adapting to the educational system of Ecuador. The objective of this study is to analyze the perception of the school community about the main socio-educational difficulties faced by students during their migration and insertion in the Ecuadorian educational context. In this research, the life story methodology is used to obtain information that allows a deeper understanding of the experiences of students and their families. This in order to explore -from their subjectivity- the experiences, challenges and achievements they have experienced during their adaptation process. This research also seeks to obtain useful information to improve understanding of the situation of Venezuelan students in Ecuador and, eventually, improve the conception of educational integration policies and strategies. The situation of migrant students is a challenge for the host educational context, but there are techniques and strategies that can help promote integration and learning. Among the main results of this research we can mention that, by providing students with an inclusive and welcoming environment, interaction and communication between Venezuelan students and their Ecuadorian peers is encouraged, which, in turn, improves their integration process. In addition, the importance of offering students academic and emotional support programs to help them overcome difficulties in their process of adaptation to the new socio-educational environment will be highlighted.
