Abstract
The title project "The school garden as an integrating tool of curricular areas in the fifth grade of Intercultural Bilingual Education in the Intercultural Bilingual Community Educational Unit ABC" aims to demonstrate that the school garden can be used as an integrating tool of areas in the school in Middle Basic Education in Ecuador. Thus, through our field observations, the repetitive use of the classroom as a scenario for the teaching-learning of subjects was evidenced, always in the absence of integration of learning areas, thus contradicting the MOSEIB, which encourages the use of culturally relevant community learning scenarios and the integration of subjects in knowledge circles. This problem stimulated us to create a school garden with the purpose of creating creative spaces where they could, by the symbolic richness and the transversal combination of their own knowledge that is combined in the garden, integrate learning areas and generate new knowledge from them. The research corresponds to an educational ethnography, using a qualitative methodology (participant observation). We affirm, as demonstrated, that the garden gave favorable results as a tool for integrating areas and helped to develop new skills and abilities in the students.
