Abstract
This article presents the experience, achievements, and challenges of a non-formal program for early childhood care and education (ECCE) developed at Universidad Casa Grande (Guayaquil, Ecuador). This program was implemented in 2018, it aimed at young children (and their families) who lived in two vulnerable areas of Guayaquil, and started as a response to a problem, at a national level, of development potential loss on children in adverse situations.. Evaluation data of actors and components of the program are presented, these are based on the scientific literature on the key indicators of quality ECEC programs. Data were collected with standardized or centerdesigned instruments, the results of which confirm that quality programs favor child development. Project sustainability is placed as an element of quality to be incorporated in other discutions.
