Abstract
This work is an approximation of the actions that take place in the school classrooms of the Special Education Unit "Claudio Neira Garzón" and to the teaching and pedagogical processes that develop in them. It was based on the qualitative paradigm, method of group study, the object of study of research were the basic and advanced social skills developed in adolescents and young people with visual impairment of the 6th and 7th of basic. In turn, the reality in which the process of teaching and learning students is immersed was analyzed. The research techniques that were considered for obtaining information were: the participating observation, the semi-structured interview and the scale of social skills, as instruments: field journals, observation guides. The research led to the design of an activity system divided into three phases, each establishing an order of activities sequenced from basic skills to advanced skills, based on teaching strategies such as; cooperative work and role-playing, to enhance basic and advanced social skills in visually impaired adolescents and young people of the Special Education Unit "Claudio Neira Garzón". It should be noted that the proposal was evaluated by the criterion of specialists, obtaining positive results from the assessment of them, mainly because it is contextualized to the school, family and community, with resources and teaching strategies accessible taking into account the potentials, interests and needs of the students.
