Abstract
The confinement caused by the coronavirus health emergency in Ecuador and in the world generated several usual changes in people's lives, especially in education, where the family assumed new educational roles from the change from a face-to-face modality to a virtual one. For this reason, this study attempts to identify the role of the family in the process of educating their children in times of pandemic from a qualitative, socio-critical and descriptive approach on the reality of parents in virtual education, using the Action Research (AR) method. The techniques used in the collection of information in this work have been participant observation, documentary analysis and interview on education in pandemic and testimonies of parents of the 12 parishes that make up the Azogues canton (province of El Cañar), which have allowed a triangulation of the results obtained and an interpretation of the virtual educational process experienced by families, access to information and communication technologies, the relationship between educational actors during the pandemic, educational quality and future expectations in a period of time delimited between the beginning of the pandemic (March 2020) and November 2021, marked by the return to face-to-face classes.
