Abstract
The general objective of this research work was the construction of a learning environment to encourage the habit of reading in 7th grade students of the "República del Ecuador" Educational Unit. In order to achieve such purpose, a diagnosis of the reading habit of these students was carried out, in order to identify which strategies could contribute to encourage their interest in reading. From the methodological point of view, this study assumes the socio-critical paradigm with a qualitative approach and the method it assumes corresponds to the case study; the tools and instruments are developed in order to obtain diagnostic data that propitiate the design of the proposal. In accordance with the problem, the objectives, the theoretical review and the analysis of the data obtained in the diagnostic process, the proposal called ¡Qué mágico es leer! was designed, where a series of activities aimed at developing the reading habit in students converge. In order to effectively generate a meaningful product, the learning environment was subjected to a validation process through the expert judgment method, where a pertinent evaluation of the proposal was obtained. In conclusion, the design of the learning environment shows that the proposed activities contribute to the acquisition of the reading habit, with the involvement of all the actors that make up the educational community.
