Abstract
The present work refers to the perimeter and area of figures, a topic which was developed and prepared, in base on experiences that occur in educational institutions as well as vivid in the school in which is applied in this master's work.
This work was performed at the school of basic education "Leopoldo N. Chavez", placed in La Esperanza parish, Pichincha province, with the participation of 60 students, who belong to the Parallels A and B of the 8th years of basic education.
To make this work has been chosen the option A, in which was talking about the implementation and experimentation of a theme or didactic unit, it was elaborated and applied in its own reference centre and to its development, it was built in 6 worksheets divided in the following way : Guide 1 and 2 for the knowledge of the perimeter, 3 and 4 for the knowledge of areas of square, rectangle and triangle, and its differentiation of the perimeter, Guide 5 for the implementation of the area of the rectangle and regular triangle to calculate the area of polygons, ending in 6 Guide for the application of the theorem of Pick as areas of calculation alternative. The Concrete material was used in each worksheet as: geoboard, pentaminos, cards, silhouettes of polygons and the environment, the resource was also used ICT based on area builder software.
Geometry was developed through the application of the guidelines, where the students learned about forms and structures, in order to improve reasoning and skills which help to represent and solve problems of different situations in the real world. Besides, with the plannings we achieved the knowledge and differentiation of perimeter and area, which is the main objective of the TFM.
