Abstract
The present work sought to analyze the function of homework in the consolidation of learning of students in the Sixth Year of Basic General Education, by describing the different cases that were presented during the investigation, also carrying out a contrast of different authors, the which expressed their position for or against the use of homework. The work had a qualitative approach, with an interpretive paradigm and a case study type of research. A proposal was designed that considers different alternatives that can be implemented during the design of school tasks, allowing self-regulation, responsibility and construction of knowledge in students. However, based on participant observation, it was evident that changing activities turns out to be more efficient in consolidating learning. As a result, it was obtained that both students and teachers perceive the task as a tool for the realization of learning outside the educational context. In the same way, in the comparison of authors, the majority agree that the function of the task is a great benefit for students, taking into account that certain parameters must be considered when preparing it.
