Abstract
Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) present difficulties in oral communication, which is very important to favor the exchange of information with the people in the environment in which they develop and to be able to communicate their needs. Therefore, the following research question is posed: How to develop oral communication in a student with Autism Spectrum Disorder in the Special Educational Unit Agustin Cueva Tamariz? In order to solve the identified problem, the following objective is proposed: To propose a guide of activities for the development of oral communication in a student with ASD in the Special Educational Unit Agustin Cueva Tamariz. To support this research, an extensive literature review on oral communication and its development in autism spectrum disorders was carried out. The methodology was based on a single case study with a qualitative approach and interpretative paradigm. Techniques and instruments such as observation, documentary analysis and interview were used. The results showed that the student has difficulties in the pronunciation of sounds, limitations in the structure and length of sentences, limited use of complete sentences, difficulties in understanding the meaning of words and limitations in verbal expression, especially in communicating emotions and needs. In view of the problems identified, an intervention proposal was developed aimed at the phonological, syntactic, semantic and pragmatic components with a total of 12 activities to be developed in the school-family, to foster the development of the student's oral communication.
