Abstract
In the present titling work, it is proposed to analyze the process of learning to read, of the students of the seventh year of General Basic Education parallel "B", of the Educational Unit "Juan Montalvo". This research arises from the difficulties identified regarding reading during the development of pre-professional practices, especially fluency, the construction of meanings and the comprehension of the texts read. Its purpose is to strengthen the development of learning to read through the application of a didactic guide composed of various activities. Regarding the methodological framework, we opted for the socio-critical paradigm, the qualitative approach and, as a method, participatory action research. For the development of this research, very important techniques and instruments were used that allowed gathering the necessary needs about the object investigated. The techniques and instruments implemented in this research were: observation, interview, observation sheet, pretest and posttest. Finally, it is determined that with the applied proposal the reading process of the students was strengthened, since most of them obtained an assessment of achievement, in the various aspects evaluated in the post-test.
