Sistema de actividades para promover la comunicación no verbal en un estudiante con tea utilizando el método TEACCH en la Unidad Educativa Agustín Cueva Tamariz

Abstract

The project focuses on nonverbal communication in a student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), diagnosed with childhood autism and experiencing difficulties in verbal communication. Following pre-professional practices and observations at the Agustín Cueva Tamariz Specialized Educational Unit, it is noted the student's struggle to interact in the school environment and lack of response to verbal communications. Based on the identified issue, the general objective is to propose a system of activities for the development of nonverbal communication through the TEACCH method in a student with ASD. Authors are addressed for theoretical grounding on the development of nonverbal communication in children with autism spectrum disorder. The research is framed within an interpretative paradigm within a qualitative approach to educational research, using the single case study method. Techniques such as participant observation, interviews, and document analysis were employed to gain a deep understanding of the student's situation. To contribute to the communication of the child with ASD, a system of activities was designed based on the TEACCH method, focusing on activities adapted to the student's individual needs, using pictograms. The proposal offers detailed phases and guidance for its implementation, emphasizing the development of nonverbal communication skills, personal autonomy, and social norms. The project is presented as a support resource to enhance communication and the academic and social development of students with ASD, aimed at education professionals.
