Abstract
This research was conducted in the eighth year of the school "Luis Cordero" of the city of Azogues. The problem presented was poor performance in learning mathematics, specifically the subject of operations with round bodies. During the diagnostic stage, it was detected that the teacher uses traditional methodologies focused on the memorization of formulas and algorithms and the widespread notion among students that mathematics is a difficult science. In the methodological frame a mixed approach was used. The quantitative skills, like the survey, he allowed to compare as per statistics the results between earlier and after the application of the innovations to the method Singapore, and the qualitative ones, like the observation and not structured interviews, understand the situation from the point of view of the students, teachers and managers. In the theoretical frame the current theories were checked about the roll of the mathematics in the life. The Singapore method consists of three types of demonstrations: Concrete, pictorial and symbolic. This research adds the element that has been given in historical calling, because mathematics arose in contexts other than the school, so it is necessary to demonstrate the origin and usefulness through the time of mathematical operations. The results show that students changed their perceptions of mathematics, of fear, and they moved into playful enjoyment; they became conscious to that all the students are capable of understanding the beginning of the mathematics, and especially that it exists in the environment where they live.
