Abstract
The present research aims to strengthen interculturality through the understanding of certain Cañari cultural manifestations among 6th grade students. This work seeks to develop an educational intervention proposal with didactic strategies constructed from expressions of Cañari culture from an interdisciplinary approach, to promote interculturality in the subjects of social studies, Language and Literature, and Cultural and Artistic Education. During preprofessional practices, it was evident that the teacher used national music to strengthen interculturality, however, it was also observed that some students had little interest in understanding traits and backgrounds of their own culture. Likewise, it was found that there was scant knowledge about the cultural diversity of the country. In this sense, the initiative was taken to include manifestations of a culture from an interdisciplinary approach, through didactic strategies that allow for reflection, knowledge, and firsthand experience of coexistence between cultures. For this research, a qualitative method was used, implementing techniques such as interviews, focus groups, and participant observation of the school context. After the implementation of the educational intervention proposal, it is concluded that students have come to understand and appreciate their culture, and similarly, intercultural awareness has been consolidated in the classroom. Indeed, this research is a pedagogical initiative to include culture in the teaching- learning process of different areas of knowledge.
