Abstract
Reading implies a cognitive process that integrates critical skills, thoughts and abilities from reflective spaces. In this sense, the objective of this research is to evaluate the usefulness of the use of short readings such as stories and legends adapted to the micro-planning of the Language and Literature area to strengthen aspects related to the integral education of human beings. The paradigm that guided the work was the critical partner, with a qualitative, quasi-experimental and interpretative approach, which allowed analyzing reality and understanding the results. For this, 72 ninth-year EGB students from the "Manuel Muñoz Cordero" School collaborated, who were divided into an experimental and control group. The results show an increase in the taste for reading in the experimental group, while in the control group the level of taste for this variable is maintained. It is concluded that the adaptations made to the microcurricular planning through the use of short readings managed to promote reading in the classroom, this is reflected in the instruments applied for interpretation, however, it is highlighted that the readings must be liked by the students learners.
