Abstract
The purpose of this research project was to create an intervention proposal aimed at promoting language development in a student with Down syndrome (DS) in the fourth year, parallel "A" of the Special Educational Unit "Agustín Cueva Tamariz". To theoretically base the work, international, national and local contributions on Down syndrome and difficulties in language development were analyzed, starting from the statements of Cano de Gómez et al. (2013), Santos and Bajo (2011), Arregui (1997) and Kumin (2012) who talk about language difficulties in Down syndrome and its characteristics. Regarding the methodology employed, the hermeneutic-interpretative paradigm was considered as a paradigm together with a qualitative research approach. The method employed was the single case study, the techniques used were observation, interview and bibliographic review; from these were derived as instruments the interview guide, field diaries, observation guide, checklist and bibliography record card. In this way it was possible to obtain relevant data to characterize the state of the language; at the comprehension and expressive levels, of the subject of study. In response to the results found, a proposal was made with logopedic activities based on a playful learning environment aimed at enhancing the language development of the case studied. This proposal can be adapted to different contexts and scenarios.
