Abstract
This Curricular Integration Work (TIC) focuses on the development of the teaching-learning process of fractions in the fifth grade of Basic General Education (BGE). This inquiry seeks to provide possible solutions to the identified problems regarding the difficulties that students present in the teaching-learning process of fractions. To counteract these difficulties, activities with concrete material are proposed to improve their attention and participation during classes. For this reason, we have proposed the following general objective, which is to promote the teaching-learning process of fractions in the fifth year of BGE, within the area of Mathematics. In addition, in our main theoretical axes are: didactics of mathematics, learning models, the concept of fractions and approach to fractions in the BGE curriculum, the same ones that are addressed within the area of mathematics. While in the methodological foundation it was developed under a socio-critical paradigm, with a qualitative approach, a type of applied research and with an action-research method. Various techniques and instruments for collecting information were applied, as techniques are participant observation, documentary analysis and the interview with the teacher and as instruments are field diaries, documentary analysis sheet and the interview guide. To respond to the objectives, we design, apply and evaluate a manual of activities aimed at the use of specific material. The same one that contributes in the teaching practice as a support within the mathematics classes specifically with the subject of fractions, in addition to working with concrete material, allows students to interact in a better way feeling motivated to learn, which is important to work on this subject from an early age, since it is present in our daily lives.
