Abstract
The thesis exposes the need to enhance the technological skills of elementary and high school teachers at the "Luis Cordero" Educational Unit in Azogues, using a mixed approach that combines qualitative and quantitative methods to investigate the knowledge, skills, competencies, and technological needs of educators. The research techniques that were applied were a technological skills test and a survey with open and closed questions, which resulted in the majority of teachers being at a medium-basic level of acquisition and application of technological skills in the field of ICT proposed by UNESCO in 2019. The results are the basis for the design and planning of a didactic sequence of educational workshops, which aim to strengthen the technological skills of teachers to an advanced or knowledge-creating level. The study contributes to the ongoing effort of educators to address the challenges of the knowledge society, and to promote a significant change in the nature of education. It also contributes to the reflection on the need for critical and responsible digital citizenship for the formulation of new educational policies.
