Abstract
Reading is one of the main tools that the human being possesses to access the world of knowledge and entertainment, but it often happens that this function is not used in its entirety due to lack of practice or ignorance to use it correctly; This is one of the cases that occurs among people who are in high school and are deprived of their liberty in the Turi deprivation center in the city of Cuenca-Ecuador. By virtue of what was stated, the present investigation sought to inquire about this problem with the people immersed in this situation, for which a qualitative study was proposed, with an action-research methodology and as an instrument the use of the interview and poll. The results achieved showed that there are many shortcomings in this field, among which the lack of reading material according to their interests, ignorance of reading techniques and methods stands out. To make up for these deficiencies, a methodological proposal with solution alternatives is presented, which contains interactive and motivating activities to capture the attention of this group of people. It should be noted that said proposal went through a validation phase with experts in the different areas related to it, thus guaranteeing its reliability.
