Abstract
Education must offer a comprehensive curriculum, it must be in constant innovation and apply new and varied strategies that allow students to strengthen their skills and create meaningful and lasting learning, which is why this research work aims to use theater as a teaching strategy to promote reading and writing of children between 11 and 12 years, likewise this work is born of the difficulties encountered during the development of pre-professional practice. Therefore, the following research question was posed: How to promote reading and writing in the students of Secondary Basic Education of the Alfonso Carrión Heredia Educational Unit in the year 2022? And as an objective of the study, it was defined to implement didactic strategies through theater to promote reading and writing in students. This study used a qualitative approach based on the socio-critical paradigm and action research methodology. Participant observations, structured observation and interviews were used, as well as appropriate instruments to identify problems and diagnose the state of children's oral and written expression. After an in-depth analysis, a didactic strategy was designed, applied and evaluated with activities implemented and focused on theater, using instruments such as the observation guide and the post-test. Finally, it was verified that the theatrical activities proposed in one way or another fostered the children's reading and writing, since they encouraged and motivated them to express themselves spontaneously.
