Abstract
The main purpose of this research is to design a primer of local knowledge and wisdom of the Tarqui parish, in order to contextualize it in a relevant way in the curricular content for the second grade of the "Alfonso Moreno Mora" school. The approach of this study is qualitative, employing ethnography and discourse analysis as methodologies, and semi-structured interviews as the main information gathering technique, supported by interview and observation guides. In addition, holistic evaluation is adopted to analyze the implementation and evaluation of the primers in relation to their functioning. Among the results achieved, the creation of a novel teaching method called "word fishing" stands out. This method incorporates knowledge and knowledge primers, together with a specific application route that is aligned with the performance criteria skills related to the subject of language and literature. Its purpose is to enhance reading and writing skills. Likewise, it was possible to identify the most relevant local traditional knowledge and skills for their application in the educational process of the Tarqui parish. The study contributes significantly to the strengthening of the cultural identity of the second grade of the Alfonso Moreno Mora school and the parish of Tarqui. The primers not only fulfill a pedagogical function, but also contribute to the enrichment of the cultural heritage, thus consolidating a valuable link between academic knowledge and local cultural traits.
