Abstract
Communication is fundamental to social coexistence, allowing to transmit thoughts, needs and emotions. It develops from birth through different forms such as crying, gestures and babbling, evolving towards a more defined verbal or non-verbal communication. Hence, the research focuses on the importance of communication in the development of children with cerebral palsy who have motor and communicative limitations. In addition, it analyzes how verbal and non-verbal communication influence social coexistence. Therefore, a review of several authors was made based on what is mentioned about verbal and non-verbal communication, cerebral palsy, and the tools to develop this communication. The contributions of the PECS system to stimulate language development and improve communication in children with cerebral palsy and other communication difficulties were also reviewed. In addition, to understand the problem and how to contribute to its attention, the qualitative methodology was implemented from the interpretative approach, the case study method and the operationalization of verbal and non-verbal communication. Given the problems identified in this research, a system of activities combining multisensory stimulation and the PECS system was proposed as a solution to improve verbal and non-verbal communication. This solution stands out for its innovative and creative approach, promoting communication skills and autonomy in students. In addition, the didactic dimension is emphasized by involving teachers and students in an inclusive and equitable environment.
