Abstract
This research is focused on the analysis of the level of reading comprehension identified in children in the fifth year of basic general education of an Educational Unit in Cuenca. The research is developed based on problems identified from pre-professional practices related to difficulties in different dimensions that influence the process of reading comprehension. The execution of this investigative work was supported by the National and International background and different authors who theoretically argue the object of study. The socio-critical paradigm and the qualitative approach are assumed as the most convenient for the development of this work, as well as data collection instruments such as: field diaries and observation; to then interpret the data through triangulation. As a contribution, a guide of didactic activities is elaborated for the development of the teaching and learning of language and literature in the subject of reading comprehension, this guide is elaborated in order to strengthen the inferential level, where the majority of shortcomings could be evidenced.
