Abstract
The objective of this Curricular Integration Work was to integrate sex education into the Natural Sciences curriculum of the third year of General Basic Education in Ecuador. We explored three key theoretical areas in our research: comprehensive sexuality education, the roles of educational actors in teaching and the approach to sexuality education in the Ecuadorian context. These foundations were essential to analyze the results. The approach used was qualitative and the Action Research method was employed. Techniques such as surveys, interviews, participant observation and content analysis were used for data collection. A proposal called "Learning to know my body" was developed, which has activities to address different topics of sexual education. As part of the results of our research we obtained that the teaching of sex education in the classroom of the third year of basic general education (EGB) is nonexistent. Therefore, this research has favored the creation of a space where students can express their doubts and concerns about the subject; in addition to giving them the necessary tools so that they can know their bodies, form healthy interpersonal relationships and mutual respect. This contributes to lay the foundations of conscious and informed individuals, thus promoting a holistic development to face the challenges of sexuality in a positive way in their personal and social development.
