Abstract
The aim of this study was to develop artistic competencies through the aplication of Project Based Learning as a methodology in the subject of Cultural and Artistic Education (ECA) in the second level of Technical High School "A", in the Educational Unit "Miguel Merchán Ochoa" located in Cuenca (Azuay-Ecuador). Through participatory observation and semi-structured interview, data were collected for the research, thus being of a qualitative approach, with a field methodological design. There was designed, applicated and evaluated a pedagogical intervention in ECA, resulting in the development of artistic skills and critical thinking of participant students in socio-cultural issues; this, through the creation of artistic mini-projects using visual arts (artistic poster), appreciating in a critical way, artistic manifestations that contributed to the creation of their own work, applying artistic processes. It is concluded that the active methodology applied to the ECA made it possible to develop artistic skills of the participating students and also strengthened critical thinking skills, motivating them in their learning process, energizing the class so that group work was conducive to strengthening fellowship, and a better understanding between teacher-students in the subject of (ECA).
