Abstract
This work of curricular integration covers the development of literacy in fourth-year children of Basic General Education, which arises from the difficulties identified in the field of Language and Literature with respect to the development of skills and abilities that help to achieve a competent reading and writing. Therefore, the research question was asked How to develop literacy in fourth-year children of GBS? The objective of the research was to develop literacy in fourth-year children of GBS by means of the personal journal pedagogical strategy.For the development of the research the sociocritical paradigm was chosen and as design the action research. Similarly, this research has a qualitative methodological approach. The techniques used for data collection are observation, interview and questionnaire. The population consists of 30 students who are part of the fourth year classroom and the sample is made up of children who participated in the implementation of the proposal, ie 20 students. Finally, after determining the causes and difficulties in literacy, the proposal of the personal journal was applied for a period of 4 weeks giving as a final conclusion that the students managed to improve the development of the skills mentioned, as they went from an average of 5.41 out of 10, considered insufficient, to an average of 7.34 out of 10 that can be interpreted as reaching the required learning.
