Abstract
At the José Benigno Iglesias Intercultural Bilingual Community Center (CECIB), a significant problem was faced: the lack of interest of students belonging to the process of development of study skills and techniques (DDTE) in the development of learning literacy, The main methodology used in this thesis was action research, which is based on the active participation of researchers and study participants in the research process and on the application of the findings to generate practical changes and improvements in the context studied. In this case, action research was used as a collaborative and participatory approach to address the aforementioned problem. To address this situation, it was proposed to use myths and oral stories as a pedagogical strategy to improve literacy in the students of the DDTE process, taking as main objective of the study: analyze the integration of popular myths and legends in the teaching-learning process, identify the specific literacy problems in these grades, design a methodology adapted to the diversity of the classroom and apply it in order to improve the skills of literacy. To achieve these objectives, various research techniques were used, such as field diaries, interviews and participant observation, using the following study methods: ethnographic method, case study and synchronous medium. Through this, we sought to understand in depth the needs and challenges of students in terms of reading and writing, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies based on myths and oral stories in improving their skills. It was achieved that the results of this research contributed significantly to the improvement and motivation in terms of learning literacy in the students who participated in this research process.
