Abstract
The research responds to lessons learned in classrooms, Preprofessional Practices (PP) and Knowledge Integration Projects (PIENSA). During all the PP, developed in all university cycles, it was appreciated that in the teaching-learning process, emphasis was placed primarily on the cognitive dimension of the student, minimizing the emotional dimension. The discovery of the situation described led to the realization of several PIENSA focused on the subject of affectivity and emotions, an aspect that contributed to identify a research problem in emotional education. The study was based on the general elements that typify emotional education, making various inquiries about authors who contribute to the subject. The postulates of the philosophy of Buen Vivir (Good Living) are retaken as an essential sustenance of the Ecuadorian educational system and particularly its contribution within the teaching-learning process of Language and Literature. The proposal is framed in a characterization of the state of emotional education, all this, through scientific research methods such as document analysis, observation and field diaries. The main result of the research is the diagnosis made, the planning proposal of a didactic unit in the area of Language and Literature, which takes advantage of the potential of poetry to contribute to the emotional education of students, through the formation of values, feelings, emotions and positive experiences; thus promoting the adequate relations of coexistence, the strengthening of interpersonal relations and assertive communication.
