Abstract
Teaching professional performance is one of the fundamental pillars to ensure educational quality, so this work focuses on implementing a training program to strengthen this process in teachers in the area of Language and Literature of the initial, preparatory levels, elementary and middle, in the Educational Unit "Zoila Aurora Palacios". The socio-critical paradigm was adopted, with a qualitative approach and Participatory Action Research. The program arises from the results of the diagnosis made with 8 teachers of the middle sub-level, which allowed the identification of their strengths and aspects to be improved. The analysis of the bibliographic sources favored approaching a proper definition of the Professional Teaching Performance category. Thus, 4 dimensions emerge: teaching practice, contextual and of needs of the subjects, evaluation of the achievement of learning and psychopedagogical. The instruments that were applied: interview guide, classroom observation sheet, documentary analysis guide and semantic differential table. As a result, a training program was developed and, for partial implementation, the execution of a continuing education course was determined. The results of the course indicate that: there is a transformation of perspective regarding teacher training and improvements are made in the Didactic Unit Plans. Therefore, training programs should be carried out that integrate a diagnosis on the needs of teachers, consider various training paths and carry out monitoring and evaluation of the implementation in order to propose improvement plans.
