Abstract
The present study was carried out at the Jesús Vázquez Ochoa educational institution in the Santa María sector of the Sayausí parish of the Cuenca canton, in the province of Azuay during the period March - July 2023. The purpose of this research was to improve the learning process in the subject of Social Studies through a proposal for the application of Universal Design for Learning as a methodological alternative to enhance inclusive education in the third year of EGB. During the research, it became evident that the different learning styles and rhythms are not considered at the time of making the micro-curricular planning in the aforementioned subject, which has an impact on the students' performance. We worked with teachers on the application of the SAD in micro-curricular planning, taking into consideration the principles and guidelines proposed by this approach to activate neural networks such as: recognition, affective and strategic networks, which have a direct impact on the development of learning. The implementation of the SAD also allowed teachers to use active strategies to involve students individually and collectively in the construction of their own learning, being the fundamental actors of the learning process. Likewise, the students actively participated in the construction of learning within the subject of Social Studies, acquiring knowledge that allows them to use it in their daily lives.
