Abstract
The present research was elaborated with the objective of implementing a didactic strategy for the development of competences in the resolution of mathematical problems related to the fractions in students of the 7th year of the EGB of the Educational Unit "Tres de Noviembre" through the use of the Singapore method. In order to achieve this goal, we worked systematically with the students of this group of students and the mathematics teachers of the Educational Unit; the scope of the research is descriptive because it specifies the characteristics of the methodological processes of teaching and the development of competences in Mathematics. In research based on a socio-critical paradigm, synthetic methods and modeling were used as fundamental methods, which were combined with techniques such as documentary analysis, participant observation, interviews and the application of pedagogical tests qualitative-quantitative approach. The implementation of the proposal, students were able to gain a greater understanding of Mathematics content with respect to fractions. Students were also able to improve their reasoning skills to solve problems and improve interpersonal relationships based on the dynamics of group applied during the activities of the strategy. Moreover, the attitude of students towards mathematics had positive changes because now they feel more affective for it.
