Abstract
This degree work was carried out in the second year of basic education at the Manuela Espejo Special Educational Unit located in Azogues, in the province of Cañar. The purpose was the study of language in children with multi-disabilities and how to enhance their communication through an Alternative and Augmentative Communication System. The research was qualitative in nature and data collection instruments such as: semi-structured interviews, field diaries, and review of medical diagnoses were used. The participants were 8 students, whose ages vary between 6 and 7 years. The innovation proposal consisted of designing a speech therapy strategy that can meet the needs of the students. Finally, an evaluation was carried out by experts on the subject with extensive experience in education, disability, and language.
