Abstract
This research work is focused on a problem identified in a student with moderate intellectual disability of the Cerebral Palsy Institute of Azuay and is oriented to develop oral communication through speech therapy intervention strategies, focusing on the semantic component, because not knowing how to relate words to form meaningful sentences does not allow adequate communication. In order to provide a theoretical basis, several concepts about oral communication, intellectual disability, semantic component, strategies and speech therapy intervention were analyzed. The methodology followed for this research is based on the interpretative paradigm, having a qualitative approach and based on a single case. The operationalization of the analysis category was carried out, obtaining the indicators, which allowed us to elaborate the data triangulation. The techniques used in the collection of information were the following: observation, interview and bibliographic review; the instruments used were: field diaries, interview guide. As a conclusion of this research, a proposal was made that seeks to implement speech therapy intervention strategies with ludic material, these strategies are focused on the development of oral communication and have phases where the semantic component will be worked, each activity has its objective, materials, resources that will be used, and a set of activities that will be used in the development of oral communication.
