Abstract
In Ecuador, the educational curriculum is open and flexible in content and methodologies so that teachers can diversify, recreate and adjust them to the needs and realities of students. This allows implementing a didactic sequence whose objective is to apply reading comprehension strategies through the contemporary Ecuadorian tale to develop linguistic macro-skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing literary texts. Greater participation of each of the students was achieved, especially in the work teams; showing, in addition, interest to know something more about the tale; what motivated the students to perform the readings of the selected tales. Consequently, it can be said that the implementation of the didactic unit generated greater motivation in the students and aroused interest in reading, developed creativity to write expository texts of tales.
