Abstract
This research designs, implements and evaluates some teaching strategies, with an intercultural approach, for the development of intercultural competences in students of the sixth and seventh grades of Basic Middle Education, in the Unit Bilingual Intercultural Community Education "Suscal", as an alternative to understand and mitigate cultural tensions between the kichwa and the mestizo indigenous group. It responds to the need to mitigate rejection, represented by certain negative attitudes of the new generations in the school. Likewise, it considers the importance of bilingual intercultural institutions in the formation of an individual attached to its roots, as well as in the need to graduate citizens according to contemporary demands, characterized by diversity cultural and globalization. To do this, this research has a qualitative approach, where information is obtained through the educational ethnographic method, being descriptive-interpretive, of the educational reality and of the different phases of research. Therefore, for data collection it involved the use of the participating observation, the semi-structured interview and the focus group. The results of the research proposal were: a) The deconstruction of stereotypes circulating within the aulic scenario; (b) Promote spaces for the recognition of cultural diversity and the development of empathy for other cultural realities; c) Establish the development of competences in relation to Andean principles within teaching unit planning.
