Abstract
The present research has the objective of designing and applying strategies and recreational resources, using traditional folk tales to enhance reading comprehension for 4th grader of General Basic Education students of “Unidad Educativa Intercultural Bilingüe del Milenio Pueblo Kisapincha”. In this process, both teachers and students taking part in the development and implementation of these strategies, which focused on motivating students to read through recreational strategies and traditional folk tales. We worked with a qualitative approach and employed the research-action method, using tools such as: semi-structured interviews, field diaries, reviews, and participant observation to collect data. The results obtained after the application of the proposal showed a positive response from the students, who proved a greater interest in actively participating in class, as well as in the reading and recreational activities proposed.
